Vision and Values

Our School Vision and Value statement

Our Vision:

A loving and caring Christian community where everyone can flourish together;

inspiring a love of learning, where we grow in confidence to contribute to the local community and the wider world.

Equipping children with the skills to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

Our Values:

At the heart of everything we do ~

Our Motto:

Where we all:

Belong – Enjoy – Excel

Understanding Our Vision, Values and Motto

  • Our vision is an aspirational statement that outlines our goals and describes the future we are working towards for every member of our school community.
  • Our values are the guiding moral principles at the heart of everything we do. They shape our decisions, our relationships and our daily life at High Hurstwood.
  • Our motto – Belong, Enjoy, Excel – captures what we want everyone in our community to achieve and experience during their time with us.

Living Out Our Motto

Our motto, Belong – Enjoy – Excel, provides opportunities for our school family to have a sense of belonging in our community, enjoy their learning and have the chance to excel.

  • Belong: We belong to a Christian community who not only love to learn but love God and each other, like a good neighbour (Luke 10:27). This creates a safe and secure place for children to learn and grow.
  • Enjoy: We enjoy the challenges that life and learning bring for both young and old, remembering that Jesus said that he came to bring 'life, in all its fullness' (John 10:10).
  • Excel: We seek to excel in all that we do, following Jesus' example. He grew in wisdom, strength and friendship with his Heavenly Father and others (Luke 2:52).

How We Achieve Our Vision

To make our vision a reality, we will:

Create a welcoming community

  • Continue to foster a safe and welcoming environment where every member is pleased and proud to belong to our school family

Build strong partnerships

  • Promote pupils' contribution to our local and global communities, and strengthen our links with parents, carers, family members and the wider community to share in, and enrich, our school life

Prioritise wellbeing

  • Embed the importance of lifelong physical and emotional health and wellbeing

Inspire a love of learning

  • Provide an enriched, research-based curriculum, embracing the latest technology, which inspires all of our children and encourages them to view learning as an exciting lifelong activity

Make the most of our environment

  • Strive to make the best use of our whole school site, including outdoor areas, to enhance the curriculum while maximising learning, health and wellbeing

Support every child to reach their potential

  • Believe in each individual child and be ambitious for all of our children to achieve their full potential, regardless of their starting point, and give them the tools to prepare them for the next stage in their education

Encourage big thinking

  • Encourage our children to take the time to 'think big' and be the very best they can be
