History of our school
High Hurstwood Church of England Primary School is set in rural Sussex midway between Crowborough and Uckfield. The school was first opened in 1872 and is just over 150 years old after Holy Trinity Church was conscreated at the same time. Please see some of the old photographs we have collated below of our history as the school population has grown over the years.
Over the years the school has grown and rooms have been added as the school population has grown. We had an extensive refurbishment in 2009 to include new school hall and improved office areas, offices and IT room.
The building today comprises of a hall, kitchen, office area, four separate classrooms with outside spaces, a renovated library, refurbished nurture room, group room, IT suite, staff room and kitchen area.
